Kind of fun - Tad's interview in North Beach about all the jerseys in the Tour of CA. Thanks Eyewitness News in SF for a piece on bike racing!

The GGV Weekend Training Ride

E-mail Print PDF

February is here and the early-season road races are just around the corner...Snelling, Merco, Bariani. So quit being a hermit and join a group ride. We'll meet on Saturdays at 9AM, at Poggio in Sausalito. Knock back an espresso or two then plan for 3 hrs or so of group tempo riding. New members welcome.

Kits are IN

January isn't even over yet and GGV's stylin' new kits are already in from Voler. The design looks sharp (thanks Jenn) and stands out from all the red, white, and blue stuff out there.

Check with Tony to arrange a pickup if you pre-ordered. We've got plenty of inventory so email Tad if you want extras or just joined the club.

See you at La Trappe

Bike racing and Belgium are like surfing and Santa Cruz, climbing and Yosemite, or wine and Napa. To celebrate the tradition of Eddy Merckx, Paris-Roubaix, and the mud-filled, beer-spitting world of cyclocross, GGV meets up regularly at La Trappe in San Francisco's North Beach (Greenwich/Columbus) to enjoy some fine Belgian brews and food, and exchange some high-level trash talk about bike racing. Come join us on the second Tuesday of every month.

How Do I Join GGV?

E-mail Print PDF

Golden Gate Velo is always open to new members, but as a new club we're focused on experienced racers so we can build up the core of the club. We're especially interested in 35+ 1/2/3 men and Women 1/2/3 racers who are looking for a group of fun people to train and race with, and who love the GGV concept: an club of enthusiastic racers who want to help build the sport, while having a blast racing. If that sounds like you, join us on a training ride or weeknight social and introduce yourself. And feel free to do so if you're a Cat 4/5 racer too...we're open to anyone with the right attitude and a love of all things bike.

Alpine Loop

Alpine LakeAlpine Loop is one of the standard training rides for racers in San Francisco and Marin County. The ride is named for Alpine Lake, which the route skirts via Alpine Dam. It's a climber's loop with at least 2500' of climbing and some exciting descents. The amount of climbing varies depending on exactly where you start/stop.
